Elissa Abrams, MD

Elissa Abrams is an Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Section of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Manitoba. She holds an adjunct appointment at UBC. She is President of the Allergy Section of the Canadian Pediatric Society (CPS) and Chair of the Food Allergy/Anaphylaxis Section of the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (CSACI). She is a contributor to the Global Burden of Disease Unit at the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation. She works at Public Health Agency of Canada. She has a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins with a focus on risk communication, health systems and policy. Her research interests include food allergy, risk communication, public health, and resource stewardship. She has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored over 15 allergy practice guidelines through the CPS and CSACI.
